The Great Grandson of Ida Danzy Dixon and Grandson of Grady Dixon, Dr. Anthony E. Dixon, Ph.D. is the son of Drs. Clinton and Virginia Dixon, Ph.D. of Fort Valley, GA, the brother of Dr. Dazon Dixon-Diallo, Ph.D. and Chandra Dixon Thomas, MA.
Tells us in his own words tells how he overcame adversity to become the fourth Ph.D. in his family. I grew up in rural Georgia. I must admit that I did not like growing up in the country but as an adult I now appreciate it. Growing up in the country provided me with a work ethic that I relied upon as an adult to change my life around. My parents were both hard workers and it taught me valuable lessons but as a child I did not recognize it. I envied most of my cousins because they lived in cities such as West Palm Beach, Atlanta, Chicago, and New Orleans. I wanted to live in a metropolitan area like them. I also developed a short man complex because again most of my cousins were tall in fact the shortest first cousin, I have is 5’10’’. Thus, I lived most of my childhood waiting on a chance to get out of the country and despising my size.
